Baby Southdown Sheep. Our sheep are registered with the North American Babydoll Southdown Sheep Association and Registry NABSSAR. Six Wags Over Texas has been breeding high quality registered miniature sheep since 2009 in the rolling hills of southern Grayson county in unincorporated Van Alstyne Texas.
Southdown Sheep were imported to the United States in 1803. Our aim is to provide a high level of animal welfare and thus produce happy healthy sheep. Woodsmoke and Wool is a registered breeder of Olde English Babydoll Southdown Sheep in Ontario Canada.
However due to the demand for larger sheep the American type Southdown grew into a much larger version of the popular British sheep.
Our ram and about half our ewes are registered with Babydoll Southdown Sheep Breeders Association BSSBA. Each offers something unique for discerning shepherds from the fuzzy Teddy Bear faced Babydolls with their perpetual smiles to the spectacularly spotted naturally hornless fun loving Harlequins both will warm your hearts with their unique personalities. Many of them still carried their original Southdown registration papers. The Southdown breed was originally bred by John Ellman of Glynde near Lewes East Sussex about 200 years agoHis work was continued by Jonas Webb of Babraham in Cambridgeshire who developed the larger animal of today.
